On the sidelines of Gateway Gulf: Bahrain Titanium (BTI) Announces Kicking off Construction of a Pioneering Project Set to Transform Regional Industrial Supply Chain

Project Marks First-of-its-kind Titanium Facility in the Region

Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, 2 November 2025: In a groundbreaking move for the global metals industry, Bahrain Titanium (BTI) – founded by the leadership group of metals powerhouse Interlink – has commenced construction of a pioneering titanium production facility. A new milestone for the island nation, the landmark project marks the first integrated titanium facility in the Middle East. The industrial facility, which was granted a Golden License in 2024, will contribute to further cementing Bahrain’s position as a global industrial powerhouse and a gateway for high-value manufacturing.

The announcement was made at the sidelines of the investment forum Gateway Gulf, which was held at the Four Seasons Hotel, Bahrain Bay, bringing together global investors, policymakers, and government officials from across the Americas, Europe, Asia and the region to explore high-value investment opportunities and partnerships across the Gulf.

Located in Askar, an industrial zone located on the southeastern coast of Bahrain, the first stage of the facility, as part of a USD 200 million project, will feature state-of-the-art electron beam and vacuum arc melting furnaces, enabling an annual production of 4,000 tons of commercially pure titanium slabs and 1,500 tons of grade 5 titanium ingots. These high-grade materials will serve critical industrial sectors including chemical processing, desalination, marine, and power generation.

Ali Al Mudaifa, Chief of Business Development at Bahrain EDB, said, Bahrain Titanium is a testament to the Kingdom’s capabilities and growing appeal as a manufacturing and export hub for critical materials. With our competitive value proposition, strong connectivity, and investor-friendly regulatory framework, Bahrain provides an ideal foundation for companies like Bahrain Titanium to scale industrial innovation and contribute to global supply chains. At Bahrain EDB, we are dedicated to strengthening international partnerships. We warmly welcome stakeholders to capitalize on the extensive industrial growth opportunities that our Kingdom has to offer.

Bahrain Titanium is not just a plant—it’s a platform, said Igor Raykhelson, Chairman of BTI, adding, Stage 1 establishes Bahrain as a reliable industrial producer of CP titanium and grade 5 ingots. Stage 2 positions us to contribute meaningfully to global supply chains for critical aerospace and medical-grade components. We are building for scale, resilience, and long-term impact.

Scheduled to begin production in early 2026, the CP slab and ingot facility represents a regional first and lays the foundation for BTI’s long-term strategy to establish Bahrain as a leading hub in the global titanium supply chain. The facility’s second phase will elevate production to support advanced materials used across aerospace, medical, and healthcare industries, scaling capacity to 10,000 tons annually. This phased development embodies BTI’s ambition to leverage Bahrain as a comprehensive titanium hub, encompassing the entire value chain from production to distribution.
