Manama: An official business delegation from the City  of Shenzhen, one of the leading economic cities in Southern China, participated  in a business forum organised by the Economic Development Board (EDB) and the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), which aim to further strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries. This visit follows a trip led by His Majesty, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in September 2013 to China during which HM King Hamad met with Premier of China’s State Council Li Keqiang and discussed growing bilateral relations.

Discussions were led by senior officials at the EDB and the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as remarks from the representatives from the Economic and Commercial Councillor’s Office of the Embassy of China to Bahrain, and representatives from Huawei, who  introduced their Bahrain regional headquarters.
H.E. Kamal bin Ahmed, Minister of Transportation and Acting Chief Executive of the EDB, said:
“It is a great pleasure to welcome the delegation from Shenzhen to Bahrain. Such high level visits between Bahrain and China have contributed to support the  bilateral economic and trade relationship between the two countries including a delegation led by HM King Hamad last year. We hope that the Bahrain-Shenzhen Economic and Trade Promotion Seminar will help to ensure that many more Chinese companies can enjoy the opportunities available for investors in Bahrain, and the easy access from Bahrain to the Gulf’s growing $1.5 trillion market.”
The Shenzhen delegation is headed by: Gao Lin, Deputy Director, Economy, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen Municipality; Fan Lixia, Deputy Director of Shenzhen Economy, Trade and Information Commission;  and Zhang Lin, Deputy Director of Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office.  The delegation met with H.E. Kamal bin Ahmed, Minister of Transportation and Acting Chief Executive of the EDB, during their visit to its headquarters to discuss means of strengthening investment and trade cooperation between the two countries as well as viewing the investment opportunities provided by the Kingdom.
