01 Welcome

Our Welcome. Your Pleasure.

Our hospitality: it is, perhaps, the thing that impresses when you arrive; and what lingers longest once you’ve left. Being a trading nation that has welcomed the world for over 4,000 years, putting our guests first has become second nature.

To visit Bahrain is to know Bahrainis. Our readiness to smile and eagerness to help are legendary. We look forward to welcoming you to our home to experience the rich history, vibrant culture, tourist attractions, food and above all, the warmth of our people.

02 Location

Our Islands. Your Playground.

Bahrain couldn’t be easier to find. Our cluster of thirty-three islands sits happily in the heart of the Gulf. Saudi Arabia is just a short drive across the causeway. Flights to Bahrain from most cities in the region take less than an hour, and cruise passengers can enjoy a relaxed visit to Manama, our capital city, or historic Muharraq from nearby Khalifa Bin Salman Port.

With a stunning new international terminal opening soon, our well-connected airport makes Bahrain the gateway to the entire Gulf: ideal for a unique stopover and not to be missed as part of a wider trip to the region.

04 History & Heritage

Our History. Your Adventure.

4,500 years ago, the Dilmun people were the first to settle in Bahrain, making a home on islands surrounded by waters rich in both fish and pearls. They have left their mark on our landscape, our culture and our spirit.

Travellers to Bahrain can discover no less than three UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Visit tourist attractions like Bahrain Fort, and discover perhaps the region’s richest archaeological treasure trove. Marvel at the ancient Dilmun Burial Mounds and experience over 6,000 years of Bahrain history by visiting the Bahrain National Museum. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Pearling Trail, and find out why Jacques Cartier followed in the footsteps of our Dilmun forebears, seeking pearls – and inspiration – for some of his most spectacular jewellery.

Try one of our Pearl Diving excursions for a chance to find a treasure of your own.

05 Events & Activities

Our Calendar. Your Choices.

Whenever you visit us, you’ll find something happening. It might be the rush of Formula 1 or the riches of the annual Spring of Culture. It could be the global rhythms of the International Music Festival or the aerial thrills of the International Airshow. It might even be the shopaholic’s utopia: Shop Bahrain, which takes place every autumn.

Besides these headline events, there is plenty more to get up to. Aspiring Lewis Hamiltons can challenge themselves on the kart track at Bahrain International Circuit. You can venture into the desert in intrepid 4x4s, dive for Bahrain’s legendary pearls, or make a splash in one of our water parks, including the world’s largest underwater theme park, Dive Bahrain.

06 Food & Drink

Our Cafés. Your Conversation.

Bahrain tourism is more than just attractions and events. Café society thrives in Bahrain. Block 338 in Manama, with its dozens of restaurants, cafés and galleries, is a vibrant, cosmopolitan hub of great food and excellent conversation. More than a dining district, this charming pedestrian quarter is the soul of Bahrain’s culinary and social scene and offers a buzz that is unique in the Gulf

Alternatively, those looking for something extra special can indulge in restaurants from Michelin-starred chefs including Wolfgang Puck and Oliver Glowig. Whatever your taste and budget, food is a great way to experience Bahrain’s legendary hospitality.

07 Shopping

Our Retail. Your Therapy.

No trip would be complete without finding that perfect souvenir. Bahrain has a superb selection of malls for visitors, offering everything from global brands to independent local boutiques you won’t find elsewhere. But you can’t leave us without also visiting Manama’s ancient souk for a truly authentic sensory experience.

Take in the scents of rich spices and the hubbub of a thousand traders while you admire – and perhaps even buy – colourful, hand-woven carpets, Bahraini pearl jewellery, finely wrought gold and exquisite silk prints.
