Logistics
Bahrain’s excellent transport infrastructure has already attracted DHL, Aramex, GAC Express and TNT, who benefit from Bahrain’s strategic location at the heart of the Gulf.
The best regional air connections in the Middle East, and the causeway linking Bahrain to Saudi Arabia, make for the most efficient access to the potential of key markets across the Middle East and beyond.
The logistics industry is growing fast in response to increasing demand from businesses, and supported by government investment in a number of large infrastructure projects.
Infrastructure projects
• The new Qatar causeway due to open in 2012 will provide a direct road link to Qatar, part of the trans-Gulf highway connecting the key markets of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar and Oman, with Bahrain at the hub.
• Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Port, Bahrain’s new deep sea port, due to open by the third quarter of 2008, will become a major transshipment hub for the region.
• Bahrain International Airport is undergoing a major three-phase expansion. Building on the best connections in the region through Gulf Air, the national carrier, the expansion will significantly enhance the airport’s international connections and cargo shipment capabilities.
Bahrain's strategic location
Bahrain’s strategic location at the heart of the Gulf not only enables central access to the whole of the Gulf region; it also makes Bahrain ideally positioned to serve the wider markets of the Middle East, Africa, the Indian subcontinent and the Far East.
The combination of highly developed road, sea and air connections provides significant opportunities for logistics businesses wishing to deploy a multi-modal logistics strategy.
Bahrain is compact too, which means its air, sea and regional highway links are closely connected for maximum efficiency. Businesses can also benefit from nearby business park developments, such as Bahrain International Investment Park, Bahrain Wharf and the new Logistics Zone.
