The Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) along with the Steering Committee of the National Planning Development Strategy project; which is headed by H.E. Mr. Ali Saleh Al-Saleh is working on creating a physical master plan for the Kingdom, including its surrounding territorial waters.

The project team aims to develop a framework guide for the growth of the Kingdom in many aspects for the next 25 years. The Land Master Plan comes as the physical manifestation of Bahrain EDB's Economic Reform project, and hopes to incorporate the aspirations of all Bahrainis.

The Land Master Plan aims at achieving an economic diversification strategy that will include reinforcing Bahrain's position as the Financial Hub of the Middle East. Adding to that the master plan will try to maintain our economic edge while ensureing a high quality of life for citizens and residents that will enable growth in tourism, healthcare, and educational services.

The Land Master Plan will also ensure that our national strategy is one of sustainable development; which will ensure adequate protection for our marine and wildlife environment within Bahrain and its terrestrial waters. Development and preservation can go hand in hand with effective planning.

Furthermore, the Land Master Plan aims at providing all Bahrainis with livable neighborhoods, well-defined towns, effective conservation policies for historic cities and villages, inspirational architecture, and to reinforce Manama as a distinctive international city.
